Interesting Loft Design Ideas!

Moving into a new space can require a lot of work, but is certainly an exciting time. You get to take a blank canvas of a space and turn it into whatever you like. This is especially true if the place you are living in, is a loft.

Loft living provides many benefits from very high ceilings, to open spaces, to beautiful wooden, steel or brick touches around the home. However, designing a loft might look a little different than designing a standard home or apartment.

Whether you are looking for Dallas Texas lofts or call a loft in Los Angele home, these are some interesting loft design ideas to take your space to the next level.

Establish Different Places With Curtains

One big difference between a traditional house or apartment vs. a loft is the existence of separate rooms. In most cases, a loft will be a single large space (except for the bathroom, of course). In some cases, this can make it difficult to make separate spaces like your bedroom area, living room.

Thankfully, using curtains, drapes or some other way to physically split up the loft into different areas can be easy. These will allow you to separate the space into different functional areas, and stop the home from feeling like one large room.

Another great way is to use area rugs to signify which area is where. Anything you can do to establish the various areas of the home and give them identity is a good idea.

Use Furniture With Storage

Another thing you’ll notice in a loft is that it has limited storage in most cases. Because of all the open space, there is generally a lack of closets and other built-in storage options. This can lead to a messy and unkempt home if you don’t have enough places to store your items.

As a result, you will have to add your storage. Thankfully, there are plenty of different ways to do this, from buying cabinets to wardrobes. A particularly good idea to get a lot of extra storage without relying simply on cabinets, bookshelves, and cupboards, is to use storage furniture.

Storage benches, ottomans, and beds with storage under them can provide not only their primary function but help you keep your place a little more organized.

Find Ways to Make the Space Cozier

Because many lofts are fairly industrial and not exactly the most inviting spaces, you need to find ways to make the space cozier. Thankfully, there are many things you can do to increase the coziness of the space.

This can involve adding some new rugs, some soft lighting, having some light and fluffy throw pillows, and even add some lush window treatments. Also, bringing nature inside in the form of plants and flowers is another great way to make space feel a little cozier.

You don’t want to rid the loft of its natural beauty, but you also want to make it feel like a home and not office space.

Take Time to Scale the Home Carefully

You will need to be careful with how you scale the home, as well. With sky-high ceilings, you need to keep the space proportional. If all of your lights, curtains, art, and other decor are too low, they can often feel insignificant on the high walls.

Instead, hang your curtains higher than the need, and use vertical decor. Taller bookcases, mirrors, larger pieces of art, and even tapestry can all help ensure the home is scaled properly and looks great. You want to ensure the space in the home is filled, and it doesn’t feel like the upper half of your walls are barren or plain.

You don’t want anything to get lost in the space, so going with larger furniture. And while it is crucial to occupy the walls, you also want to ensure that your major pieces are still down at the human level so they can be seen and enjoyed. Of course, always be careful when hanging or attaching things higher up on a wall.

In conclusion, we hope that these interesting loft design ideas can help you create a space you can be proud of and can enjoy every day.
