About 66% of people living in the United States agree that a dirty home makes them feel stressed and/or anxious. With this, 23% of people living in the United States agree that clutter is the most annoying kind of mess inside of the home. Human or pet hair, dirt or sand, crumbs and spills, then stains follow.
Knowing this, why do we continue to lack care for our homes? What are we doing wrong?
If you’re wondering the same, keep reading. We’re going to talk about the five things that you’re missing when you clean your house.
1. Use the Space Behind Your Doors
For some reason, many organizers don’t remember to take advantage of an over-the-door organizer. They may seem like they’re meant for young people living in apartments, but they’re quite useful.
They can reduce clutter, especially in linen and coat closets.
Don’t worry! There are more clean and sleek designs available these days. So, it won’t be an eyesore.
2. Change Out the Shower Curtain
Many people forget about the shower curtain. We change it when we move in and it suddenly becomes a thing of the past.
If you’re unsure when the right time to change it is, invest in a white curtain liner. Then, you can see when it needs a change.
When you can see moldy spots, throw the liner and the curtain into the washing machine.
3. Care for the Floors
It may not seem like a big deal, but the condition of your floors can make a big difference. If there are some spots on your hardwood, it’s easy to get them out.
Rub a sock or a clean tennis ball on the floor to erase small scuffs. For bigger marks, you can use a damp cloth. Don’t forget to dry the area with a dry paper towel or cloth afterward.
4. Take Advantage of the Garbage Disposal
Of course, your garbage disposal helps with food waste. But, you can also use it to freshen the smell of your home.
By throwing a few lemon rinds in the disposal, you can get rid of odors in the disposal and throughout your home. Luckily, the smell will linger in your home for a while.
Don’t forget to rinse the rinds down the drain with some cold water.
5. Hire a Home Cleaning Service
We’ve made it to our last tip. When in doubt, you should hire a home cleaning service.
These cleaning professionals are experts in knowing how to keep your home spotless. And, paying them for their services is better than worrying about having to take care of it yourself.
Plus, these professionals have fresh eyes. They may see the clutter that you don’t recognize since you live in your home every day.
