How To Protect Mattress From Stains

Your mattress can get stained with a drop of coffee or juice or any other liquor. Since it is not cheap, you want to protect your mattress from any stains or dust mites. But, how to protect the mattress from stains and dust mites? Well, there are many ways you can protect your mattress from stains and dirt.

Here, I have discussed some of the most popular ways to get away with stains and dust mites on your mattress.

Tips Regarding How To Protect Mattress From Stains

Waterproof Mattress Protector

Mattress protectors are the best solution to stain problems. Everything falls on the protector while your mattress remains safe and clean forever. No dust mites are born, and no allergens can affect your health. When the mattress protector gets dirty or wet, you can wash it off and let it dry.

Since there are a variety of mattress protectors, you have to buy a good quality one. Two things to consider here:

  1. Make sure the mattress is waterproof because a non-waterproof one may protect your mattress from dust. But, they won’t give it the best protection when any liquid spills on it.

If water can reach your mattress, chances are it will get stained even though the mattress protector has already absorbed some of the liquor that spilled.

  1. The mattress protector should be machine-washable. A machine-washable mattress protector reduces stress when it comes to cleaning it. Because you need to wash it very often yet do not want to do this massive thing on your own. What are you going to do then? You can simply rely on the washing machine.

If you maintain these two criteria, not only can you buy a good quality mattress protector, you will reduce your maintenance-hassle for a long time.

How to Get Rid of Stain on the Mattress

If you use a good-quality mattress protector, there is almost no chance of stains on it. If you do not have one, however, you can have stains on your mattress. So, is there any to get rid of them? You clean them applying the cleaning hack mentioned below.

Using a Wet and Dry Vacuum Cleaner: We don’t suggest buying a new ‘wet and dry vacuum’ for this purpose. However, if you already have one, you can use it for this purpose. So, how can a wet and dry vacuum cleaner help?

Well, you can use it on many occasions including when your little one accidentally urinates on the mattress. Here, we have discussed how to get rid of urine and stain on the mattress:

Soak up as much urine as possible. Then apply some baking soda to the remaining urine and let it work for some 15 minutes. Now, take baking soda away using the vacuum cleaner. Apply some detergent powder mixed with hot water to get rid of the stain.

After applying the detergent, make sure you blot away the moisture using a paper napkin or sponge. Then apply some baking soda to the whole of the mattress. It does not take more than 20 hours to dry up.

Once it is dried up, you need to vacuum away the baking soda. That is how you can get rid of the urines and stains on the mattress.

Last Words

Although we have discussed how to get rid of urines and stains using a vacuum cleaner, you can apply this method on other occasions, for example, when juice or coffee spills on your mattress. However, this is not the best way to protect your mattress.

Since your mattress is an expensive investment, you should buy a mattress protector to get the ultimate protection of your mattress from stains and yourself from allergens. I hope this article regarding how to protect your mattress from strain will help keep your expensive mattress protected.
