Water Leak at Home? 3 Common Culprits and How a Plumber Can Help

Trying to make sure your plumbing doesn’t cost you money and lots of stress but having a difficult time figuring out what to look for? Don’t worry, we’ll help you figure out what to look out for before it becomes a bigger issue!

Keep reading to find out three of the most common plumbing problems that can cause a water leak at home.

1. Clogged Drain and/or Pipe

A clogged drain or pipe can cause a pretty bad water leak at home if you don’t address it fast enough.

These types of clogs can lead to a pretty bad water backup and even a burst pipe. It’s a good idea to take care of this right away when you find your water starting to drain slower than normal before it becomes an even bigger problem.

A clogged drain can also allow or water to build up and eventually flood your bathroom or kitchen.

2. Rust or Corrosion

A rusted or corroded pipe can lead to water escaping through a connection seal or a portion on the pipe that is letting through water. This type of water leak at home can cause major damage if the rusted or corroded portion of the pipe bursts.

These types of plumbing issues will likely mean replacing those damaged pipes especially if you don’t catch them in time. This is why it’s a good idea to check on your plumbing often enough to catch these issues before they become more costly.

You should give an emergency plumber a call if you see bubbling on your ceiling or if you are finding wet spots on your walls.

3. Worn or Damaged Seals

A worn or damaged seal is easy to spot if you know what to look for. Generally, you will notice your faucets flowing weakly or have an uneven stream.

This is a problem that needs to get looked at as at one point the seal will leave your faucets continuously dripping which can lead to both a flood and a costly water bill.

This is an easy fix to do by yourself. You will need to remove the seal to determine the right shape and size to replace it and visit your local hardware store to purchase a new faucet seal.

If you’re worried about taking care of this yourself, ask a plumber to come to help you replace your faucet seal for peace of mind.
