8 Accessories That Every Bedroom Needs

Every bedroom is different, but at least every bedroom has a bed and a few essentials here and there. However, even with all the necessary things in place, your bedroom still lacks something special. For the most part, adding accessories will transform your bedroom into a cozy space instead of just functional and plain. Give your room a whole new look by adding certain accessories. More importantly, a quality mattress is a must-have accessory, for, without it, there is no need to invest time in adding others. Choose between the Awara vs Awara Premier mattresses to find a suitable one. Below are accessories you should consider adding to your bedroom.

1. Throw blanket

A bedroom is not complete without a colorful throw blanket. A throw blanket adds a spark of contrast. The best way to add it to your room is to fold it across the foot of your bed after making it. During chilly nights, you can use your throw blanket to warm your feet or wrap it around your shoulders as you watch TV or read a book or magazine in bed or curled up in your reading chair.

2. Something personal

In the home, the bedroom is the most personal space. For instance, when you visit someone’s house, you can sit in the living room, enter the bathroom and kitchen, but the bedroom is off-limits. For this reason, to increase this privacy feel, add a few personal items to the space. It can be photos you can frame of your favorite places or people. Also, it can be something you collected or made or a gift with special meaning to you.

3. Toss pillows

Use toss pillows to add shots of pattern, color, and texture to your bedroom décor. Add a few of them to your bed, and it gives your room a new look instantly. The trick is to use not more than four pillows and choose patterns or colors that contrast with your bedding and that blend well other accessories in the room.

4. Houseplants

Every bedroom needs a houseplant or two. Even if you have no interest, you can choose one that requires minimal attention. Plants are beneficial for they help purify the air, give the space a serene feel and add a touch of living color. If you are not a green thumb, stick to easy options such as the Chinese evergreen or opt for artificial plants.

5. Shams

Shams may seem unnecessary, but from a functional perspective, they are. A pair of shams on a well-made bed adds style to your room. To go all out while using shams, use four of them. Against the headboard, use two European shams and two standard ones in front of them. You use your shams for contrast or match them to your comforter.

6. Impact lighting

Lighting in the bedroom is a must-have. Where possible, have several lighting in your room, such as a floor lamp, a bedside lamp, and ceiling lighting. If all these lights are boring, you are missing a chance to improve your room’s appeal. Not all lighting should be a show stopper, but at least one of them should stand out. Whatever your bedroom decorating style, you cannot miss lighting to complement it.

7. Large artwork

Add a flamboyant style to your bedroom with large and striking artwork on the wall over your bed. Smaller pieces are attractive too, but they do not carry the same punch as a single accent piece. As you consider what works best, do not limit yourself to framed prints and paintings. Other options are ornate mirrors, quilts, wall decals, tapestries, or enlarged photos. Choose one big enough to balance the bedroom’s look and ensure it’s at least half the width of the bed.

8. Area rug

Even with a carpeted bedroom, do not rule out adding an area rug. Area rugs add pattern, color, and texture to a room. Depending on the size of your bed, you need a 5 by 8 or more for use under the bed. Optionally, use smaller rugs at the foot of your bed. Notably, choose a rug that fills the space a few inches to the closest wall.
