Who doesn’t like playing in the fresh air, with endless room to run around; and what’s better than playing in a home garden. Well, gardens are the best place to ward off your child from the screens and to let them play boisterously. It’s the place where your little ones can explore nature and satisfy their curiosity.
But kids are little monsters at times, you leave them for one second, and another second you will find them wandering in the thorny shrubs and putting their little toes in the open drains. And the worst- you might find them playing with garden tools or perhaps near the swimming pool.
So, what to do? kid-proof your garden!
Here are some great tips to let your little ones safely enjoy fun-garden time:
Protect The Stuffed Area
Areas like patio and terraces are often stuffed with outdoor furniture, gorgeous floors and stylish decorations. So protect them from the kids, as they run amok and often overlook the things that come in their way. No, you don’t have to empty the space, instead keep in mind just a few things like:
Make sure that the floor isn’t slippery
There should not be any poky corners or nails
There shouldn’t be anything that can hurt them
Kids are always moving with the lightning speed, the reason it’s very important to protect them. Explain to your kids how important it is to look upon the things while playing. Restrict them from climbing, standing or playing with cushions and furniture.
Use Fencing
Fences are more like garden boundaries that protect your kids from going out. After all, nobody wants their kid to have a sneak peek to someone else garden. So, for their safety and your peace of mind, create fencing around the garden.
Also, do not include fencing with starp edges or barbed wire, as they can lead to a major accident. Further, order them to stay away from the pointing edges. You can choose a kids friendly fence, which they won’t be able to climb.
Cover The Swimming Pool
If you have an inground swimming pool, cover it by using safety pool covers or by using an automatic pool enclosure. Kids often play in the areas that are not safe, and the swimming pool is one such area in the garden. So, ensure that your pool is safe and protected.
Create a fence around the pool area, and if you have paddling pools, make sure you empty them.
Safeguard The Swings And Slides
Your home garden is the main point of entertainment for kids, but can also become a minefield where they can get injured anytime. So, if you have installed a mini sports area for your munchkins, make sure they are safe and sound.
Teach your kids how to use slides and swings and other games of the playground property. Also, teach about how to get on and off so that they won’t hurt themselves. As well, wait for their turn.
Use Lighting And Illuminating Bulbs To Make The Place Glowing During Nights
Kids can play anytime, so don’t let the night hamper their play time. Install illuminating lights and make the place look magical. No matter at which corner kids are playing, lighting will help parents keep an eye on the kids even after the sun sets.
Fill every nook of the garden with glowing bulbs so that there wouldn’t be any dark corners. You can also use motion lights, which light up only when someone walks.
No Poisonous Plants
Poisonous plants grow on their own and sprout anywhere. Poisonous mushrooms, peonies, Lilly, are some of the plants that only need water and fertile soil to grow. Further, kids get attracted to weird things and sometimes taste or sniff them.
So, keep them away from your garden. Teach your child about unsafe plants. Also, do check if all the garden chemicals like bleaches, baits, pesticides, and herbicides are locked. And lastly, when it comes to climbing trees, restrict your kid from doing so.
These little monsters are parent’s gems, and it’s very dreaded to think of them doing the wrong things and putting them in the wrong situations. Further, you can’t let your worried eyes following them everywhere. Simply follow the above preventive measures and let your kid enjoy their own private space.
