Remove the tiles
Once all of the furniture and fixtures have been removed, the next step from there is to remove the old wall and floor tiles.
Work on the plumbing
Depending on the layout of the new bathroom, there may be a need to work on and modify plumbing. Some of the changes that may need to be made include making new drainage channels, eliminating or moving water supply points, and eliminating or moving drainage points.
Work on the electrics
The electrics may need to be rerouted depending on the layout of the bathroom. It is important to note when doing this that there are special requirements and that any electrical fixtures or fittings need to be installed with great care and have the right IP rating for where they are going to be installed.
Renovate the walls
Best practice states that you should always renovate the walls of a bathroom before doing the floor. Doing it this way ensures that there is no damage to the flooring, whether that be existing or just newly laid.
Put the flooring down
The flooring needs to be fully finished before any bathroom furniture is brought into the space. However, it is important to be aware that there are some things that need to be installed in a bathroom prior to the flooring being laid. This includes things like drains for walk in showers and low profile trays. A popular choice of flooring is ceramic tiles, although there are many other options when it comes to floor coverings in bathrooms. Whatever the material, it needs to be laid on a clean, flat, and solid surface.
Install the sanitaryware
After the floor has been laid and it is dry, it is then time to install the different items that require connecting to the water supply and to the drains. This includes things like shower kits and columns, custom glass shower doors, wall hung and floor mounted toilets, bathtubs, vanity units, towel warmers, light fittings etc.
