By Craig Green Leave a Comment

Grout is the most important component that helps keep the tiles in place. It connects all the tiles strongly with one another to the point where they form a strong grip. Now, grouting can last for years. But still, there might be some cases where you’d need to regrout your tile floors.

For example, if the grout of your tiles is damaged, it can loosen up the tiles and can make them susceptible to breaking down.

Here are some important signs that show your tiles need regrouting

1. Gaps in the Tiles Joints

The biggest tell of the grouting need for tiles are the gaps in the joints of tiles. These gaps mean that the grout is not there anymore. It could be because of the poor grouting job or because of something external that is causing the grout to come off.

So, when you face something like that, you need to start planning the regrouting process. There are lots of benefits of installing tiles at your home but you need to fill out the gaps so that the rest of the grout stays in its place.

2. Tiles Are Becoming Loose

Even when you don’t see any apparent gaps in the tile joints, you can see when the grout needs work when the tiles start becoming loose. Although the grout doesn’t lose its power anytime soon, a bad grouting job won’t last for long.

So, pay attention to the tiles and notice when and if they start loosening up. If the process is happening at a rapid pace, you’d need to have the grouting redone completely. It might come off as a hassle, but you need to do it if you want to maintain the health of your tiles.

When tiles become loose, they can easily breakdown because they are not strongly pressed against the floor or the walls. Regrouting is the only thing that can help you prevent unexpected damage to your tiles.

3. Tiles Are Losing Their Grip

If the tiles are losing their grip and coming out of the floor, then this shows that the grouting has become weaker. You need to pay attention to it and deal with it at once if you don’t want the tiles to get permanently damaged.

4. Grout is Losing Its Color

If you have been cleaning the tiles with the wrong type of cleaner, then it is going to discolorize the grout. The grout color would either fade aware or won’t look the same at all.

Discolored grout won’t go well with your tiles and will affect their aesthetics. In this scenario, your only option would be to regrout the floor with the exact color of the grout that you want. The discoloration is quite common with low-quality grouting or with improper Tiles Maintenance.

5. Mold is Developing in the Joints

If you notice your bathroom tiles developing mold, then it is an alarming situation that you need to deal with. Along with being a health hazard, mold has severe effects on grouting and can make your tiles look dull way sooner than their time.

If the mold has gotten too much into the joints, your only option then is to remove the old grout and do regrouting. This is important if you want to deal with the risk of further mold development.
